Day to day, most people in Ma'ale Adumim shop in three places: their neighbourhood centre, the Kanyon in the middle of town, and the big stores in Mishor Adumim down the hill. See groceries, restaurants and cafés and shops.
Kanyon Ofer Adumim
The mall at 5 Derech Kedem (02-5908000) is open Sun-Thu 09:30-21:30 and Fri 09:00-15:00. It has about 106 listed shops over 4 floors, including Shufersal Deal (floor -1), Super-Pharm, a Ma'afe Ne'eman bakery, Roladin, Aroma, Burger Ranch, Pizza Hut, New Deli and Oshi Oshi. Government offices, the post office and banks are upstairs (see your first week).
Motzei Shabbat: Shufersal, Super-Pharm, Oshi Oshi, Milk and the Matti gym open from an hour after Shabbat until 23:00. Parking: 360 spaces, the first two hours free.
Neighbourhood centres
Each main neighbourhood has its own small centre with a supermarket or minimarket:
- Karso centre, HaRekhes 31 (Nofei HaSela)
- Tzemach HaSadeh centre, Tzemach HaSadeh 29
- Kikar Yahalom, the original open-air centre
- Derech Mitzpe Nevo 41-43 (Mitzpe Nevo)
Ma'ayan 2000 has branches at Karso, HaTzur, Kikar Yahalom and Pri Megadim; Zol VeBegadol is at HaEven 15 and HaIrit 1.
The big weekly shop: Mishor Adumim
The big supermarkets are in the Mishor Adumim industrial and commercial zone: Rami Levy (Eitam 1) and Yochananof (Haruvit 38). DCITY (Derech Yamit 10) is a large home-design and outlet mall with event halls, a hotel, an indoor water park and a spa: useful when you are furnishing a flat.
How kashrut works here
- Kashrut in the city is supervised by the Ma'ale Adumim religious council. Its current list of about 134 supervised businesses is on the Ministry of Religious Services kashrut portal.
- The portal does not show the level. The levels in this directory ("regular" or "mehadrin") come from the council's own business list of September 2022, so they may have changed. Always check the certificate on the wall.
- In that 2022 list, most pizzerias, Burger Ranch, Burgers Bar, HaShipudiya and Hummus Eliyahu were mehadrin; the supermarkets (Shufersal, Rami Levy, Ma'ayan 2000, Zol VeBegadol) were regular.
- Some businesses, mostly factories and bakeries in Mishor Adumim, also carried a second certification (Eda Haredit, Badatz Beit Yosef, Rav Rubin).
- Businesses in Kfar Adumim are under the Mateh Binyamin religious council, not Ma'ale Adumim's.
