A desert morning from Ma'ale Adumim
Byzantine mosaics, a spring in the Wadi Qelt canyon and an art museum, all within about 10 km of the city. Best Sunday to Thursday (the Castel Museum is closed Friday and Shabbat) and in the cooler months; you need a car.

About 8 km north-east of the city via the Alon road past Kfar Adumim. Free but by advance registration only; closed on extreme-heat and flood-risk days. Several stream trails are closed because of pollution, so follow INPA signs.
