Schools, gans and daycare in Ma'ale Adumim

4 min readChecked 9 October 2026

The 2027-28 registration dates have not been published yet (checked 9 October 2026). The municipality normally announces them in winter; the 2026-27 timetable below shows what to expect.

Gan (ages 3-6) and first grade

  • For 2026-27, registration for municipal gans and first grade ran 19-29 January 2026, online only, through the municipal registration portal, which the municipality links from its registration page when a round opens. Source (opens in a new tab)
  • Children already in a gan must register again for the next year.
  • Requests to move schools in grades 2-6 were not accepted after 30 June 2026.
  • Registering for gan or school does not register your child for an afternoon programme (tzaharon); that is a separate matnas sign-up (below).
  • The municipality publishes registration-zone maps, information booklets for gan and first grade, and the Education Department's contacts on the same page.

The Education Department in City Hall (3 Derech Kedem) sees the public Sun-Thu 08:00-12:00 and Wed 16:00-18:00; the general secretary is on 073-3485657. Source (opens in a new tab)

Daycare (ages 0-3)

  • Daycare (maon) registration for 2026-27 ran 15 February-8 March 2026 in the Ministry of Labor system, after a government online-ID login. You choose up to two daycares per child; once the ministry confirms a place, you finish registration and pay fees with the daycare. Source (opens in a new tab), ministry service (opens in a new tab)
  • The municipality publishes a list of daycares by neighbourhood (PDF, February 2026) (opens in a new tab): matnas daycares in Nofei HaSela, Chalamish, HaTzaftzefa and Mitzpe Nevo, two WIZO daycares (HaEven, Kol HaTor), an Emunah daycare (HaTziltzal), three Chabad daycares, and others. Source (opens in a new tab)
  • The four matnas daycares belong to the community-centre network's "Hatchala Chachama" chain and are recognised, so the Ministry of Labor fee subsidy applies to eligible families. Matnas registration for 2026-27 ran 15 February-14 March 2026. Source (opens in a new tab)
  • The matnas also runs nine family daycares (mishpachtonim) of up to five children aged 3 months to 3 years, in carers' homes, Sun-Thu 07:00-16:30. You must visit before registering; a waiting-list form is open. Source (opens in a new tab)

Afternoon programmes (tzaharonim)

  • Gan tzaharon: runs inside municipal pre-K and kindergarten gans from the end of gan to 16:45, Sun-Thu, with a hot kosher meat lunch. For 2026-27 the full-year fee is 9,700 NIS (or 9,195 NIS from October), plus 150 NIS registration; a tzaharon opens only if at least 18 children sign up. Registration ran 19 January-30 June 2026; later sign-ups join a waiting list. Source (opens in a new tab)
  • "Nitzanim" in schools: a Ministry of Education programme run by the matnas in seven state primaries (Mamlachti Gimmel, Tomer Rachel, Almog, Megadim, Tzemach HaSadeh, Nofei Sela, Nirim) to 16:00 (Tuesday 15:45). The subsidised grade 1-2 price for 2026-27 is 4,800 NIS a year. Source (opens in a new tab)
  • Both are run from the matnas early-childhood branch, 29 Tzemach HaSadeh St (02-5913444).

High school (grades 7-12)

The last published dates are for 2025-26: online registration for the state high schools in two rounds, 9-11 February 2025 and 2 March 2025, on rishum.app (opens in a new tab). New residents can register in the municipal system; if that fails, bring proof of de-registration from your previous authority, a Ma'ale Adumim rental or purchase contract, an ID card with the sefach listing the child, and recent report cards to the Education Department. Separated parents must come together. Source (opens in a new tab)

Help for English-speaking and olim children

There is no English-language school in the city. Nefesh B'Nefesh says all schools offer Hebrew lessons for olim, with hours that depend on how many olim there are that year; sometimes the hours are pooled into a city-wide children's ulpan, and olim also get extra tutoring hours. Source (opens in a new tab) The municipal absorption team (073-3485640) can help with registration. Source (opens in a new tab)

We found no French- or Russian-language school programmes in the city.

Getting to school

School transport eligibility, student travel cards and travel refunds are handled by the Education Department's transport unit (073-3486091), with online forms. Source (opens in a new tab)

After school

The city's youth movements (Bnei Akiva, Ezra, Ariel, Tzofim and others) meet on Tuesdays and Friday/Shabbat; the matnas reports about 1,700 members. Source (opens in a new tab)
